Library Regulations

Guidelines to ensure a productive and respectful learning environment for all students

Book Borrowing Policy

Guidelines for borrowing and returning library books

Students may borrow two books at a time for a period of one week using the library card
Books must be returned on time to avoid fines
If books are returned late, a fine of Rs. 10/- is charged per day for the book
If student is absent on the return day, books must be returned on the day they return to school with notification of absence in School Diary
Books to be renewed must be brought to the library on the date of return for renewal

Reference Books Policy

Rules for using reference materials

Reference books are for consultation/reference only within the library
Reference books are not issued for home use
All reference work must be done in the library itself

Library Conduct and Care

Library books should be handled carefully - no tearing/folding of papers
Students who damage or lose library books must pay compensation fixed by librarian
Students causing damage to library furniture will pay for repairs/replacement
Do not lend your library books or library card to others

Silence must be observed at all times in the library
No eatables are allowed in the library
Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited inside the library

Regular Attendance Requirements

Mandatory attendance standards for all students

Regular attendance is a key requisite for all students of St. Joseph's
Students must have minimum 75% attendance (examination board rule)
Students failing to meet attendance requirement will not receive promotion
Such students should repeat in the same class or be withdrawn
All students expected to attend on reopening day after vacation and day before vacation begins

Leave and Absence Procedures

Proper procedures for taking leave and handling absences

No student may absent without obtaining leave previously in writing
For unplanned absence, submit parent/guardian letter stating reason upon return
Obtain permission from principal or vice principal before entering class
Parents/guardian must make entry in student's diary on 'Non-Attendance and Leave records' page
1-2 days absence: get diary signed by Class Teacher with leave application
3+ days absence: submit application signed by parent/guardian and countersigned by principal/vice principal
Medical absence of 3+ days must include medical certificate copy

Penalties & Consequences

Excessive LeaveRs. 20/- per day

Fine for more than 20 days leave in a year

Absence without leave

Disciplinary action at discretion of principal/vice principal

Continuous unexplained absence

Name struck off rolls after 8+ working days, re-admission required

Punctuality and Late Coming

Standards for timely arrival and consequences for tardiness

Punctuality is a main aspect of self-discipline
All students expected to be punctual for school arrival and all functions/activities
Students must arrive at school at least 10 minutes before first bell
Late students will not be admitted to class without principal/vice principal permission
Late coming data must be entered in appropriate diary page
Student council members may record ordinary delays in diary with date

Penalties & Consequences

Fine imposed after 5+ late days in a year, paid to class teacher

Student Withdrawal and Dismissal

Policies regarding student departure and disciplinary actions

No refund of fees for students who leave school or are dismissed
Students sent away or struck off rolls will not be re-admitted as a rule
Habitual idleness, disobedience, bad conduct, or contagious sickness can lead to dispersal
Transfer Certificate requires written application 3 days in advance
All dues must be cleared before T.C. issuance
T.C. fee: Rs. 200/-

School does not provide transportation - parents responsible for arrangements
School not liable for student safety once they leave premises
All students must leave or be collected within 20 minutes of dispersal
Students expected to conduct themselves responsibly while traveling
After arrival, go directly to respective classes for first period or self-study
No playing, running around, or unnecessary noise after arrival
No staying back to play after dispersal except for enrolled activities
Follow instructions of watchman and assigned staff during arrival/departure
No arguments with security staff - they ensure safety and convenience
